(Time Period- 1992, Sometime since Ukraine's independence)

For many countries, especially the former Soviet Republics, 1991 was a year that was far from dull.

During that year, Iconic Companies, such as Pan American World Airways filed for bankruptcy. Freddie Mercury, singer for the famous band Queen died, which would result with England going into 3 months of mourning. And the Gulf War ended, which resulted in Iraqi forces leaving Kuwait. Then, a referendum is held in the USSR, And the people wanted to keep the 15 soviet republics together. As a result, 6 of them, boycott this referendum. Meanwhile, within 1 week, Latvia and Estonia, the two remaining Baltic states under Russia's care, would gain independence along with Russia's sisters, Ukraine and Belarus, Moldova, Romania's little brother. And Russia's second largest city, Leningrad, is formally changed to St. Petersburg.

1991 was also the year where Yugoslavia collapsed, although it would not dissolve until later. Unfortunately, for the states wanting independence from Yugoslavia, it would be a very rough time.

It was during that year that the personifications of Ukraine and Turkey would rekindle their friendship, before confessing their feelings not too long later. And America and Lithuania would confess their feelings, too. All in all, 1991 was a happy year for many nations.

Now, the year is 1992. The former republics of the Soviet Union we're going through hard times with the economy, and some, especially Ukraine, were busy non- stop to the point where they can't even have a small celebration for their independence. Fortunately, Ukraine was able to arrange a little formal luncheon with a few friends.

That was why Turkey was currently shopping for a suit for the occasion. Accompanying him was his friend, Japan.

"Thank you for willing to come, Kiku," he smiled, "I hope you can give me some help. I would have had Feliks come, but, you know how he is..."

"It's not a problem, Mr. Turkey. Although I'm not as good with fashion help as my sister, Taiwan."

"That's fine."

For hours they looked through the stores of Istanbul, until they came to a small shop, that sold suits made with the finest material ever made, even though They were normal business suits.

Turkey showed a suit that was a Loire blue color to Japan. "What do you think, Kiku?"

"I think Ms. Ukraine will enjoy it, Mr. Turkey. I also think it looks good on you, too."

"Thank you." Just as Turkey thanked him, His phone rang. "Hello?"

"Hello Sadik!"

Turkey smiled softly. "Hello, my Nadir bir mücevher." (My Rare Gem in Turkish) How Are you?"

"I'm doing well. I am Just finishing the arrangements."

"That's good, Sofiya. Also, do you think we could add one more person to the luncheon?"

"Of course! Who is it?"

"Japan."

"Of course, just give him the info, like where this will be at, what time, you get the whole idea."

"Of course. And did you invite anyone?"

"Yes. I've invited Elizabeta, Emma, Vladimir, his brother Andrei, Elise, Toris, Eduard, Raivis, Natalya, Basch, well he wanted to come, And Matthew. Feliciano also volunteered to help bake some of the food, so he is invited, too, along with Lovino.."

"You invited Liz and Vlad? I think that party might go downhill…"

"Oh… No, I talked to them about that, and they agreed to make a temporary truce."

"Really? When it comes to those two, they act as stubborn as a mule. And why did you invite the Southern Italian Brat? I have no issue with the Northern half, but…".

"Well, I had to because he wanted to…"

Ah, whatever. As the long as that stupid Spanish ass doesn't find out… Anyways, I got to go. I love you."

"I Love you too, Sadik." And Ukraine Hung up.

Kiku bowed his head.

"You did not have to do that," assured Japan.

"Of course I had to! You are my friend, after all!"

"Thank you, Mr. Turkey."

After paying for the suit, Turkey gave Japan the info about the luncheon, and on what he should wear.

The next morning, at approximately 7:30, Turkey gave another call to his beloved.

"Hello, Sadik. How are you?"

"Very well. I can't wait to see you. This is a grand occasion."

"It is. I am currently hosting a girls sleepover, now."

"That is good. I'm guessing they are asleep? Anyways, I will see you at 2:45, pristine, and perfectly on time. I have to talk to my boss, though."

"Okay. I can't wait to see you. Did you tell Japan?"

"Yes. He is going to go."

"Good. I love you. It has been so long! And please don't wear your mask! You look so handsome without it!"

"I know, darling. I love you too. And just for you, I won't wear my mask."

(Time Skip)

Afterwards, At 8:15 A.M., Turkey changed, then talked to his boss, Turgut Özal (AN: 8th president of Turkey at the time.), and talked about what they should do for the economy, loads of work that needs to be done, their health, the usual. Before leaving, Mr. Özal commented on Sadik's appearance.

"You look handsome, Sadik. I'm guessing this is for a little event to celebrate Ukraine's independence?"

"Yes, sir. Thank you, Sir."

"No problem. I hope you're being gentlemanly towards Ukraine. We do not need nor want her boss to severe our ties because you didn't treat her right."

"I am, Mr. Özal. I wouldn't dream of hurting her or upsetting her."

Mr. Özal smiled. "That is very good to hear. Give Ukraine my congratulations."

"I will. Have a good day."

"The same to you."

And with that, Turkey went to Istanbul airport, where he would board a plane that was to depart at 10:45 A.M. to an airport in the Crimea, where what used to be Russia's, now Ukraine's, summer house was.

(Time Skip- Crimea- Time 12:15)

After a short 1 hour and a half flight, Turkey arrived at the Crimea. He then went to the Car rental. By then it was 12:30. Normally Sadik would hire a car to drive him. However, since prices were expensive, he decided to be frugal, and rent a car.

To get to Ukraine's house, it would take an hour and 30 minutes, which would result in Turkey being extremely early. When he got the car, he was given 2 spare tires, because apparently the road to Ukraine was one of the bumpiest roads in The area. Turkey was not worried.

'This shouldn't be too bad. I mean, what could go wrong?' Thought Turkey as he got in the car.

Well, let's just say, he was going to be in for a rough time.

As he drove along, things were going smoothly. While driving, he thought about Ukraine and their relationship throughout the years.

She was truly beautiful. He remembered how during her confession, she told him that he didn't have to date a "Plain Jane" like her. Sadik could never understand why Ukraine would always say that, unaware of the fact that the Polish and Romanian brats were drooling over her when she wasn't looking.

They have had a good friendship in the past, during her Cossack Days and Turkey's time as the Ottoman Empire . Sure they had some rough patches, but they made up afterwards. He really treasured their friendship back then, because not many were willing to be friends with the Turkish man. Hell, some still avoid him. But not Ukraine.

He didn't exactly know when he developed feelings for Ukraine. If he were to guess, it would probably be right after Ukraine was absorbed into the Russian and Austrian Empires. He would have hardly anyone to talk to in friendly manner now. That was when he remembered when He developed feelings for The big chested beauty. He had faced every cliché symptom in the book.

BANG!

Turkey was shot out of his thoughts. That's when he realized something.

"Oh, great! Now I have a flat tire!" And then went on to curse off in Turkish.

Then, an imaginary light bulb flickered over his head. "That's right! I have two spares. Thank god I accepted those.."

But then Turkey remembered he promise Sofiya that he would be spic and span. And right on time, too. He checked his watch. The time was 1:15. Deciding to go with the promise of being on-time, Turkey changed the tire.

When he was done. He was shocked. He managed to do that, yet remain clean the whole time.

"Wow…"

And with that, Turkey drove away. By then it was 1:25.

'Hopefully I won't get into anymore trouble,' he thought. 'The last thing I need is another flat tire. That would never do!'

He then looked around as he drove. He saw the farmers hard at work on their large fields, possibly getting wheat, and other typical farm plants. Whenever he saw wheat, or bread, it reminded him of Sofiya, as Ukraine was, and still is, known as the "Breadbasket of Europe."

But then, something happened.

"BANG!"

"Oh you've got to be kidding me," Groaned Turkey. Sure enough, there was another flat tire.

"I should really talk about these roads to Ukraine. And I was following the damn speed limit!" He took a glance at his watch, which pointed at 1:35. It wasn't even ten minutes since the LAST one. And so, once again, Turkey got the last spare tire. This time, it took shorter to fix the tire, now that Turkey had some "experience". By the time he was done it was 1:45.

Turkey then hopped in his car, and turned it on. Well, he tried to, but it wouldn't turn on.

"Can things get any worse? First I got a flat tire not even 15 minutes ago, I got another one, and now, my car broke down! Sikme( Fuck in Turkish)!"

Turkey got out, opened the door that held the car's engine, and kicked the fender,, not caring if it was now broken, too. Then, as if it was the magic spell, it turned on. Unfortunately, kicking the fender resulted in some Grease being sprayed out of the car, and onto Turkey's suit!

Turkey sighed. "There goes my promise in being clean. Well, at least the car is running. That just saved me a lot of running and walking…"

Turkey then hopped in the car, and sped off, not caring if he was going 25 miles over the speed limit. He needed to get to Ukraine's. Fast. It was 2:00 now.

"I don't care if I get pulled over, I will get to Sofiya's party, if it's the last thing I do! A promise is a promise, and I never go back on one!" He said in a confident voice. He was going very fast down the road.

He went faster and faster, swerving potholes, and avoiding all the bumpy parts.

However, unbeknownst to The Turkish man, a cow broke through a fence, and walked the middle of the road on a quest for some food.

Sadik was still speeding. But then, his eyes widened in horror as he saw the cow. Realizing he was too late to hit the brakes, Sadik swerved to the right of the cow, just in time… To head straight to a muddy pond.

Sadik braked hard, but it was too late. Before he could do anything, he felt his car go off the road.

"SPLASH!"

Mud flew everywhere. Amidst the mini chaos, Turkey was thrown out of his car, and with a manly scream, face planted all over the mud.

"God... DAMNIT!" He roared. He then glanced at his watch. It was 2:25! "I PROMISED HER I WOULD BE THERE CLEAN AND ON TIME, NOW I DON'T THINK I WILL BE ON TIME! FIRST I GOT A FLAT TIRE, THEN ANOTHER, THEN MY CAR ALMOST BROKE DOWN, AND NOW MY CAR AND SUIT ARE OFFICIALLY DESTROYED! CAN MY DAY GET ANY WORSE?!" Then, he felt himself sinking deeper into the mud. "Oh great. Now I'm getting catapulted into this shit!" It took 5 minutes, however, to get out of the mud. By now, Turkey looked worse than he had since the Ottoman days.

Fortunately, a passing florist on his pick up truck came trundling by. Turkey flagged him down.

Upon seeing the state of The stranger, the kind florist cleared his throat in order to prevent himself from laughing. "Ahem… Can I help you, sir?"

Fortunately, Sadik spoke Ukrainian. "Yes please. Do you know of Sofiya Chernenko?"

The florist brightened up. "Of course I do! That lady is such a sweetheart!"

"Can you get me to her house in 15 minutes?"

"Of course. Hop in!"

Turkey jumped in the truck, abandoning his rental car that was now In a horrible state.

"The florist turned to his passenger. "So, what happened to you, and what brings you to her?"

"Well, it's a long story, mister…." So Turkey told it in the briefest way possible, and by the time he was done, both were laughing hard about it.

Fortunately, without trouble, Turkey arrived at Ukraine's house with a minute to spare.

"Thank you so much sir. You saved me a lot of walking."

"No problem. Here, take some flowers for her. You look, well, you looked dressed for an occasion."

"Thank you." Turkey then saw some tulips, and smiled. "May I take some tulips?"

"By all means."

Turkey chose the red ones, which symbolizes your love for someone.

"Thank you sir. Have a good day."

"You too. And Good luck!" Turkey then sprinted to the door.

Meanwhile, Ukriane and her friends and sister were waiting patiently for Sadik. Then, as the clock let everyone know it was quarter to 3, the door opened, revealing a drained, but delighted, Turkish man holding the most beautiful red tulips.

The reactions were mixed. He ignored the whispers about him, and also ignored The younger nations, who were struggling to hold in their laughter. He even ignored the sound of Hungary's camera, even though he really wanted to destroy it.

"What happened to that bastard?"

"Ve~ I don't know, but he looks tired…"

"Did he not take a shower, big brother?"

"I don't know, Elise."

"Who are you?"

"I'm Canada.."

Ukraine looked worried. "Um, Sadik? What on earth happened to you?"

And so Turkey explained the whole story, from the tire, to the next tire, then the car almost breaking down, and the cow to the muddy pond. Not surprisingly, everyone was hysterically laughing, especially Romano, Belarus, the Baltic states, who almost wet themselves, and Shockingly, Switzerland. Even Turkey was laughing along, even though he looked bright red.

"Oh my, excuse me M-Mr. T-Turkey I-I *giggles* apologize for laughing so-" that was when Japan lost it, and had to clench his stomach from laughing so hard.

"Oh, Sadik, I don't care if you have to go back on your promises. Just having you be here is all that matters to me," assured Sofiya. "Although I do appreciate it that you made it here on time…," she said quietly.

"I could never forgive myself if I went back on those promises. Do you like the tulips?"

"Yes. They are so beautiful! Thank you so much!" And after they said 'I Love You', they gave each other a peck on the lips.

Everyone couldn't help but go "Aw" at the sight.

"Uh, guys, can you keep this a secret? I don't really want cat breath and other brats finding out about this…."

Everyone agreed, although Hungary would quietly tell everyone she would send pictures to the party guests.

And with that, the party began.

I hope you liked this story!

Let me first tell you about the story background.

Originally, I intended on making this one shot a bit more sad. I don't know why, though. As I was writing, I just stopped, and couldn't think of anything else.

Then, two weeks ago, I was asked to watch my 3 year old cousin. While I was watching him, he was watching "Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends" on the TV. One of the episodes was "Lady Hatt's Birthday Party." Being a fan of the TV show myself, I couldn't help but watch.

In the episode, the main character of the episode, Sir Topham Hatt's wife, Lady Hatt, was having a birthday party. For the occasion, he bought a suit, and promised to be "spic and span and right on time." Instead of taking one of the engines, he took his car. Along the way, he drove into a pothole, thus making his car useless. Then, an old car named Caroline, came and gave him a lift as far as she can get before overheating. She then overheats. Afterwards, a steamroller named George came, and offered to help him. Along the way, Sir Topham gets covered in oil. Matters get worse when Something breaks on the steamroller, causing him to go out of control, and crash into a muddy ditch, not far from where Thomas, our main character of the whole show, was taking on water. Thomas then takes him to the scene of the party, and the Fat controller gets there on time.

I found this episode very amusing, and then decided, "Why not use this as an inspiration for my TurkRaine one shot?" And so, this story came up.

I think, based on my experience, I think watching children's shows can give you some inspiration to writing stories. And so can children's books, too. I remember reading a story on the Baltic states and Russia, which was based off of the ' Three little Pigs.'

Alright, I'm done explaining. I hoped you enjoyed it. Please write what you think of it. And look up "lady hatts birthday party" on YouTube. And watch children's shows and read children's books!

About the first call between Turkey and Ukraine...........Actually it's not "nadir bir mücevher", it's "nadir mücevher" ("bir" means "one" in Turkish, we don't usually use it in sentences because it has no effect on the sentence, it just makes it crowded and unsightly. {I am sorry "bir"!!}) If it ends as "mücevheriM" it means "my" mücevher. So I think it's more appropriate to have it like "Hello, nadir mücevherim " (It literally means "hello my rare gem")-------There is a small mistake in the part where Turkey swears first. Should have been "Siktir". The word you used isn't really what you wanted to use, it's like describing the action.(the A-C-T-I-O-N woahhh ( ͡°ᴥ ͡° ʋ))

Definitely not to disparage or judge:)!! Also this fanfic is seriously one of the best I've ever read!! Thx for writing this!
